Unique qualities of our orthodontists

Bailey N. Jacobson D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Bailey JacobsonThis team represents a wealth of orthodontic training and experience!

Dr. Bailey is a native Chicagoan who knew he wanted to be an orthodontist from the time he was 12 years old. His Dad was a dentist on the north side of Chicago on the same corner for 50 years.

He spent all of his college years at Northwestern University, first undergrad, then dental school (Doctor of Dental Surgery), and then graduate school in Orthodontics (Master of Science in Orthodontics). He began teaching in Northwestern's dental program even before his graduation. Afterward, he continued teaching and eventually became a clinical full professor of Orthodontics a few years before the school was unfortunately closed in 2000. As an alumnus, he received Northwestern University's Service Award and, later the Merit Award.

Dr. Bailey continues to teach as a visiting professor of Orthodontics in the graduate Orthodontic Department at the University of Detroit/ Mercy in Detroit, MI.

He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in 1968 and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists in 1973. He was honored by the Illinois Society of Orthodontists as Outstanding Teacher of the Year in 2001, and reached the pinnacle in 2004, when he received the Earl H. Shepard Award for Distinguished Service from the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists.

He has been a member of the Craniofacial Habilitation Team at Children's Memorial Hospital since 1960 and has lectured and published extensively, especially in the field of cleft lip and palate. He is a member of numerous professional organizations and has held offices in the past, including, serving as president of the Midwest component of the prestigious Edward H. Angle Society.

Dr. Bailey's pride and joy are his children Shari, a family therapist and his son and partner, Ron. But, what really turns his head are the words "Grandpa Bailey!" His four grandchildren are the real loves of his life next to, of course, his wife Ruth, to whom he has been married since 1955. In his free time, he's thinking about fishing.

Ronald S. Jacobson D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Ronald JacobsonDr. Ron officially joined his Dad, Dr. Bailey in the practice in 1989, though he spent plenty of time there while he was going to school. As a little boy, he used to sit and watch his Dad prepare lectures on Orthodontics and cleft lip and palate and he made his mind up early to follow in his father's footsteps. Now he's pretty much leading the way.

Dr. Ron spent his undergraduate years at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He attended Northwestern University Dental School (Doctor of Dental Surgery) where he finished with a Master of Science in Orthodontics.

He taught in Northwestern's graduate Orthodontic Department as an associate professor until 2000 when the school unfortunately closed.

Dr. Ron still teaches as a Visiting Associate Professor in the Graduate Orthodontic Department at University of Detroit/ Mercy Dental School.

He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in 2005 an is a member of the Craniofacial Team at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. He has published and lectured extensively, especially in the fields of cleft lip and palate, surgical prediction in Orthodontics and practical use of the computer. He even designed the wonderful orthodontic software that we use in the office.

Dr. Ron belongs to numerous professional organizations, including the prestigious Edward H. Angle Society. He is a past-president of the North Side Branch of the Chicago Dental Society and a trustee on the board of the Illinois Society of Orthodontists.

An accomplished musician, he plays drums, piano and guitar. His wife, Mary, is an optometrist.
